AMI, Germany, 1921-1925

AMI is the abbreviation of the typically German name "Auto-Motoren-Industrie GmbH". This was the name of a small Berlin company, which undertook to produce auxiliary engines for bicycles. A 50-cc upper-valve power unit developed a capacity of only 0.4 l.s., but was very successful. A luxury version of the motorbike with a two-speed gearbox was also produced. According to some reports, Heinrich Hildebrand, one of the creators of the world's first production motorcycle "Hildebrand and Wolfmüller" took part in the creation of the engine.
