Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 '1931


"Alfa Romeo-8C2300" was produced from 1931 to 1934 and became the best creation of Vittorio Jano.On the first sight it was not much different from the model "1750." Indeed, both had the same chassis slightly upgraded for "8C2300", but under the hood the latter hid a very special engine. It was a series 8-cylinder, consisting of two blocks of 4 cylinders, with the drive of the two upper camshafts with gears located in the center of the motor. Blocks, cylinder heads and crankcase were made of light alloy. The crankshaft consisted of two parts connected by a gear clutch. With other gears, the rotation from the crankshaft was transferred to the rotary rotary compressor "Root" (Roots) and two pumps - for water and oil.
The engine of the standard production model had a power of 142 hp, the racing version of the "Monza" developed 178 hp The chassis was of two types - with a short and long base.The names of the competitions for which they were prepared, - "Mille Miglia" and "Le Mans" respectively.The first won several victories in the same race in 1932-1934, the second - in 24-hour competitions in 1931-1934.
For 5 years, 188 machines of the "8C2300" series were manufactured. Until now, many historians recall their stability on the highway and high engine power.
