Kaman SH-2 (K-20) Seasprite

It is intended for search of submarines, target designation and management of artillery fire, reconnaissance, transportation of personnel, evacuation of wounded, management of tactical operations.
The company "Kaman" at the end of 1957, winning the competition, received a contract for 4 experimental and 12 serial all-weather helicopters General purpose HU2K-1. This designation was later changed to UH-2A and the device has received the name "x seasprite" (seasprite Maritime elf).
The helicopter had a scheme with four-bladed main and tail rotor and two turboprop General electric T58-GE-8F. Helicopter "x seasprite" is in service with the US Navy in 1963 and Later it was built in many variants.
UH-2A-version with one TVD General electric T58-GE-8B with a capacity of 932 kW/1250 liters.and equipment for instrument flights (88 machines).
UH-2B-version, similar to UH-2A, but equipped only for flights in good visibility (102 machines).
UH – 2C-a new designation UH-2A/UH-2B with two theater t58-GE-8B.
NUH – 2C-one helicopter UH-2C, equipped with means of delivery and launch missiles "Sidewinder" and "Sparrow" III.
NUH-2D - helicopter NUH-2C, converted to test helicopters with small non-aircraft ships.
HH-2S-search and rescue version of the helicopter UH-2C with turret "Minigun" and a four-bladed tail rotor (6 cars).
HH-2D – analogue of the HH-2C, but without armament and armour (67 cars). Widely applied in Vietnam for search and rescue crews in combat conditions.
SH-2D-anti-submarine and defensive version of anti-ship missiles (20 machines). Converted from HH-2D.
YSH-2E-two modifications of HH-2D, which had improved radar and equipment of the LAMPS system.
SH – 2F is a variant of a light anti-submarine helicopter based on SH-2D with two GTE of 1350 HP (the first flight in 1973).
The fuselage of the helicopter SH-2F all-metal, semi-monocoque type. The lower part is made waterproof during an emergency landing on the water.
The nose fairing consists of two hinged flaps folding on both sides of the fuselage to reduce the dimensions required when placed on an aircraft carrier. In the cockpit are 3 seats for the pilot, the second pilot (or officer to ensure tactical operations) and the operator. On the tail rotor pylon mounted stabilizer scope of 2.97 m. the possibility of transportation of cargo inside fuselage or on external sling.
The use of helicopters SH-2F two theater (installed on both sides of the main rotor pylon and having axial air intakes) with a capacity of 1350 HP contributed to the further improvement of flight characteristics and ultimately led to an increase in the maximum take-off weight of the helicopter.
The fuel is placed in tanks with a total capacity of 1800 liters, including the capacity of two external auxiliary tanks 757 liters.
When performing the task of searching and targeting surface ships in helicopters instead of torpedoes placed fuel tanks, detection-anti-ship missiles and / or platforms for their launch.
The crew of the SH-2F helicopter consists of two pilots and an operator. The helicopter is equipped with search radar LN-66HP, radar control panel, equipment for electronic support measures ESM, Doppler radar AN / APN-182,
radio navigation system AN/ARN-52 TACAN, navigation calculator AN/AYK-2, radio UHF AN/ARC-159, onboard magnetometer for detection of submarines AN / ASQ-81, receiver and recorder of RGB signals.
In the cockpit of the helicopter located the starter to drop the RSL with 15 tubes launcher and 2 launching device for the eight smoke grenades MK.25. Two nodes in the load located on each side of the cabin can house torpedoes or fuel tank capacity 227 L. Instead of starting the device for dropping the RSL can accommodate three seats for paratroopers, or two stretchers. The helicopter has a rescue winch with a capacity of 272 kg and a cargo hook with a capacity of 1814 kg.
SH-2G "Super x seasprite" – improved anti-submarine helicopter with new engines T700-GE-401 and modernized equipment, which includes a drop of hydroacoustic station with on-Board CPU (first flight in 1990, adopted adopted in 1993).
The rotor has a hinged blades, which are made of aluminum alloy and fiberglass. The blades of the simplified control system with the use of servo-wings allowed to reduce the number of parts in the control system by 60%, which contributes to the reliability of the Sleeve and fasteners made of titanium alloy. The rotor blades can be folded manually.
The chassis of the helicopter is three-post, with a tail wheel. The main racks are retractable. Tail strut with hydropneumatic shock absorber shifted forward, freely oriented when taxiing and fixed when landing.
