AE31X

AE31X is a mid-range passenger aircraft developed by the Western European consortium Airbus Industry, in cooperation with the Chinese company AVIC (Aviation Industries of China). In May 1997, an agreement was signed between Airbus Industrie Asia, AVIC and Singapore Technologies for the production of a new 100-seater medium-haul airliner, designated AE31X (or AE100). It was decided to create two versions of the aircraft: AE316: 95 passengers in the cabins of two classes, 105 - maximum and AE317 - 115 passengers in the cabins of two classes, 125 - maximum. Investments in the consortium were: 46% AVIC, 39% Airbus Industrie Asia (together with Alenia, which received 38% of the AIA part) and 15% of Singapore Technologies. The aircraft was planned as a competitor for the Boeing 717-200 (previously McDonnell Douglas MD-95). Full-scale work on the preparation of the aircraft was carried out in 1998. The first flight of the aircraft was scheduled for the end of 2000. However, on September 3, 1998, the project was terminated due to the appearance of the new Airbus Industry A318 model.
