ANZANI, Milan, Italy, 1923-1924

The name Anzani is better known in aviation than in automotive. At the beginning of this century, Alessandro Anzani was one of the first in the world to establish the production of star-shaped three-cylinder aircraft engines. One of them was standing on the airplane Bleriot, which in July 1909 crossed the La Manche Strait. Then Anzani in France and England was engaged in the production of light engines for small cars and motorcycles. In 1923, he founded in Milan a small company for the production of light microcars, which at that time were called “cyclones”. They were supplied with two-cylinder engines of its own design with a working volume of about 750 cm3 and took part in a number of races.
